A local band I’ve been waiting some time to see is 1000 Pounds of Thrust and thanks to the Slave To The Metal tour, I finally got my chance. They definitely have a strong southern metal influence intertwined with death metal, think more like Alabama Thunderpussy meets Black Sabbath. I was quite impressed by their set, especially with their singer Mike whose voice has the perfect tonality for this genre of metal — not to mention how imposing he looks on stage at over 6-feet wielding a microphone stand fashioned out of a longsword, no kidding. They played a great moody and blasting set, definitely looking to see them again.
