Impending Doom at Ground Control on 2010-05-04
The final band at the Ground Control show in West Palm Beach earlier this month was Christian death metallers Impending Doom. I have to say, they were literally the most energetic band I saw all night. And I’m not saying that because I was on stage with them but because they were in full on metal stance full body headbanging for their entire set. Which was something like 30-35 minutes long. It was intense. If it was hot in the venue before they went on, by the time the second song finished, it was at least fifteen degrees hotter; the whole place went simply nuts. Between their very high energy show and extremely seizure-inducing light show, it was an amazing experience. Afterwards, I met all five band members and they were the nicest guys, despite being completely drenched in sweat and exhausted, they greeted every fan without hesitation. And despite the crazy lights the sound guy whipped up, I managed to get some killer shots. I know they’re planning a summer tour and it better include West Palm or Ft. Lauderdale, I’m not going to miss out!
