Lady Musgrave at Ground Control on 2010-07-28
I like Lady Musgrave quite a bit. This was my third time shooting them live and the vibe was totally different than from The Talent Farm. It felt more emotive, more raw, and more fun. I spoke to Troy, the frontman, and he said his voice felt great and he was stoked to be there, as were the rest of his bandmates. I believe that this show, coupled with the upcoming release of their demo EP has really gotten them onto another plane as a band. They have definitely improved and come together as a band since I first saw them two months ago and now that they’re signed to Bishop Booking, it’s only up-and-up from here.
This was my first show at the recently remodeled Ground Control in West Palm. Basically, they moved the stage from one side of the building to the other which gave more room for packing people in. This makes the venue more spacious but takes away the intimate feel it used to have, the space they gained on the actual dance floor is minuscule but they did gain a lot of room for merchandise tables. I hope they add in the rest of the work lights they used to have, it’s far too dim in there now with 6 work lights and underpowered track lighting.
