Right out of the cultural mecca of Miami is Neurotic November, a metal crossover group. They’ve got a great stage show and great energy, and love to perform. Guitarist Sushi and bassist Terri Bear make a formidable combo when it comes to not only playing some serious riffs but also show(wo)manship. Both make a battery of curious faces and power stances during their set, it’s hard to keep your eyes off of them. Bear also plays the bass in perhaps the most peculiar manner I’ve ever seen: she actually plays a number of chords with her left hand on top of the neck versus under it. It’s definitely an eye catching move. On the other side of the stage, you have The Over Achiever, the lead guitarist. Now, he can seriously shred and has the chops to make it in just about any budding tech death metal group due to his pure musicianship. Lead singer Dirty Dick delivers his lyrics in a good cop/bad cop manner with both screaming but also choral segues in a baritone voice, sung of course. It balances out their erratic bridges for the lead up to heavy breakdowns. Although a young band, they’ve got a long road ahead of them full of fun shows and hilarious songs.
