Lake Worth, known around here as the L-Dub, has diversity in spades. Hip hop trio Speaking Volumes are yet another testament to that fact. Fronted by an amazing local artist and emcee Craig McInnis and emcee Chadroc, backed by DJ Dyrekt, they slam down some sick old school hip hop. I know the term “old school” is referenced to hip hop a lot however, these guys are throwbacks. Rapping about political issues, injustice and poverty, ups and downs of life, and walks of life, Speaking Volumes live up to their moniker. The songs are not radio or club hits and are not meant to be, they’re packaged statements to be delivered aurally. If you’re a fan of artists like Jurassic 5, Talib Kweli (and Black Star), or Common you will definitely love Speaking Volumes.
