Unarmed For Victory at The Pit on 2010-10-22
Unarmed For Victory are a local post-hardcore/emocore band out of Miami. Although they’re quite young, they do show quite a lot of potential especially their drummer and guitarist. Aside from the ironic and overly long song titles, their songs definitely display talent with room to grow and mature more. Unfortunately, I do think their live set was hampered by something other than the clichéd song titles: the bass player’s stage volume overpowered everyone else on stage. This made it just about impossible to understand the lyrics or hear Eric Green’s guitar wailing (without being right next to his cabinet stack), or the drummer’s triggered bass and triples. I’m not going to fault them for this, they’re still exploring and learning what they should sound like live. I did enjoy their music and unfortunately, could not pick up a CD from them before they left, this will have to wait until I see them again at The Talent Farm.
