Within The Ruins at Propaganda Lake Worth on 2010-10-27
Also on the Malus Tour was Massachusetts’ own Within The Ruins. Playing their own brand of tech death, they shredded up the stage. I’ve been waiting a while to see these guys and the timing was perfect for this show. As hot as the stage was — those lights are blistering — or how tired they may have been, these guys put on a hell of a show. Jay and Joe, the guitarists, worked over their instruments deftly; as Joe seemed to be very comfortable in front of the camera I had a ton of good shots of him wailing on his six string Caparison. What was most surprising to me was their drummer who sat behind a huge custom kit, that was nearly eye-bleedingly neon bright, as he’s a fairly tall guy that was shoved behind this massive kit. You wouldn’t know it as he absolutely killed it. After their set, we hung out for a bit as I talked to them about being signed to Victory Records, who sent me to the show to shoot Within The Ruins. Even though they played a blazing set and were exhausted, you couldn’t really tell as they were all so upbeat and happy to be doing what they love.
The tour continues on to ravage the states and I strongly suggest you check it out, the entire line up slays from top to bottom.
